Fife Occupational Therapist
Supporting Women's Mental Health

I am currently unable to take on new clients or answer new enquiries.

This notice will be removed when this situation changes.

Thank you for your understanding

I am a senior mental heath occupational therapist and I have 20 years post qualifying experience.  My background is working in NHS mental-health services. I studied Psychology at university and went back to university to train as an Occupational therapist (OT), graduating with a 1st class Honours in 2003.

Since qualifying as an OT, I have specialised in mental-health. I have been in private practice for over ten years.

How do I work with you?

I work in a collaborative and guiding way with my clients, and my sessions are tailored to you. Like counselling, I provide a safe space for you to explore what is troubling you. In addition to this, sessions are sometimes more structured and involve setting therapy goals (what you would like to get out of our sessions), formulating a treatment map of your difficulties, relevant treatment interventions, and checking in along the way to see if you feel you are making progress.

I work from the belief that we all hold the capacity to heal, and my job is to support you to be able to gain access to this capacity. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques, and the treatment page contains more details about approaches used in sessions.

I have been on a journey of healing and therapy myself over the years. My experiences of personal therapy has shaped both my practice as a trauma-informed therapist and my understanding that the authentic human connection formed between therapist and client is central to the healing process. I believe we can only take clients as far on a healing journey, as we are willing to go ourselves. I have lived experience of anxiety and R-OCD and know what it feels like to take the first steps to reach out for help and begin the therapy process (and all the challenges along the way!).

Ultimately, my aim is to work with you to equip you with the ability to understand and be able to support your own mental-health and to help you develop resources you can use in difficult times.

I offer a warm, safe relationship.
